In ancient India, living in harmony with Mother Nature was the way of life. People intrinsically understood how to lead a balanced life, how important role Mother Nature played and how she contributed to their physical, emotional and mental health. Today, we sacrifice our health to get wealthy then spend that wealth in an attempt to get that health back. A culture of self-discipline, inner peace and physical fitness pave the way for the benefits of leading a more holistic life, a healthier life, a happier life.

Accrued fabulous wealth can provide things to enjoy the materialistic world. But can the same wealth bring or achieve peace and contentment for you? "We can buy bed from market but not sound sleep! We can buy medicine but not health! We can purchase luxurious goods but not tranquility of mind and contentment. By spending lavishly we can have garlands of degrees but not politeness and values of life". These statements are true forever, values of life such as peace, contentment and bliss can not be found in the external world. They are to be achieved by constant practice with great effort, directing our search in the internal world. Health is not merely absence of disease but the well being in physical, mental, emotional and spiritual levels. The concept of treating body as an assembly of independent parts, hitherto adopted by the medical world has been proved ineffective and the new concept of treating the body as an indivisible unit is gaining momentum all over the world.

Drugs taken can relieve pain or give the sense of comfort till the inner intelligence balances the system and completely alleviates the disease. Relief of symptom is not cure. Naturopathy is an outstanding and unique system of medicine which offers you a holistic health through the combination of all drugless therapies like Natural therapies, Yogic therapy, Acupuncture and reflexology, Magneto therapy, Electrotherapy, Physiotherapy, Reiki and Pranic healings.

Naturopathy is a drugless system of treatment which recognizes the existence of vital curative forces or the Panch Mahabhuta within the body. It believes in treating the human body as a whole and removing the root cause of the diseases rather than treating individual parts or offering symptomatic remedies.
Naturopathy can, thus, be broadly defined as a system wherein human beings live in harmony with the principles of nature. These constructive principles are applicable on the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual planes of living. Naturopathy has great health promotive, disease preventive, curative and restorative potential. The main principles of Naturopathy are:

All diseases, their cause and their treatment are one. The cause of all disease is the accumulation of morbid matter in the body except for those caused by traumatic events and environmental conditions. The elimination of such unwanted matter from the body is the treatment.

Diseases are not caused by bacteria or viruses. They enter the body only after the accumulation of morbid matter which creates a favourable atmosphere for their growth.

Acute diseases are the self healing efforts of the body. Chronic diseases are the outcome of wrong treatment and the suppression of acute diseases.

Nature is the greatest healer. The body has the capacity to repair itself from disease and regain health when unhealthy.

In naturopathy, the patient is treated and not the disease.

Patients suffering from chronic ailments are treated successfully in a smaller time margin by naturopathy.

After emerging, suppressed diseases can be cured by Naturopathy.

Naturopathy treats the physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual aspects at the same time.

Naturopathy treats the body as a whole instead of treating each organ separately.

Naturopathy does not use medicines. It believes food is medicine. However, if a patient is under any medication, naturopathy does not stop it altogether, instead regulating the intake until the person becomes self sustaining again. Prayer in accordance with one’s spiritual faith is an important part of treatment. Naturopathy believes in two things: Firstly, that we fall ill when we go against the rules of nature; and secondly, that all healing powers are within our body. Naturopathy helps the human system to remove from the body toxins and other unwanted matter which leads to disease.

The concept of naturopathy finds its roots in ancient Indian wisdom where it speaks of the five great elements or the panch mahabhuta. These elements are present in the world in the form of prithvi (earth), jal (water), vayu (air), agni (fire) and akash (ether). A harmony of these elements translates into health and wellbeing. Disease occurs when there’s a congestion or depletion of one or more elements, leading to an accumulation of morbid matter, further leading to the growth of bacteria or viruses. Naturopathy addresses the equilibrium of these elements and restores the ill body to health. Every element has a specific remedy and the degree of disbalance requires a combination of treatments.

“Nature cures, Yoga maintains, Diet nourishes and Discipline sustains”. Yoga is a discipline to develop one’s inherent powers in a balanced manner. Studies have been conducted which conclusively prove that yoga is an excellent promoter and sustainer of good health. It increases flexibility, endurance, improves digestion, reduces stress, helps combat insomnia and weight problems and more. At Nature Cure, we recognize the holistic effects of practicing yoga and have it as a part of our daily routine. If naturopathy is treatment, yoga is maintenance. The general characteristics of yogic practices are as follows:

The yogic system of health involves the exercise of the skeletal system as well as the deep-seated smooth muscles of the body.

The internal pressure changes, namely the intra-thoracic and intra-abdominal pressure, are governed by yoga.

There is very little expenditure in terms of energy or money while practicing yoga.

Anybody can practice yoga irrespective of age, sex, caste, creed or faith.
Every school of yoga emphasizes specific practices, but the main objective is the same i.e. to achieve the highest level of integration with the Universal Consciousness through the control of the mind.
The nature of yogic practices is psycho-neuro-physical.
All yogic practices are complementary to each other.

Nature Cure and Yoga Centre's basic philosophy is to heal our body and mind in a way that we achieve a balance in our life. The rationale of project is therefore based on the need to aware the mankind about bringing harmony with nature and adopt naturopathy and yoga for a healthier and prosperous life. The experiences and learning of HIMANI and the Chief Functionary motivated us to plan and build up a proposal that focus on establishing a Centre of Excellence in Naturopathy and Yoga in the premises of HIMANI’s Prakriti Vigyan Kendra (Nature Science Centre) at Bhimtal.

Health is not merely the absences of diseases but well being in physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual level of individual. The concept of naturopathy and yoga is to treat the body, mind and spirit as a whole not an individual part. It is a system of healing by stimulating the body's inherent healing power to restore normal health through the help of panch mahabhutas – Akash (Space), Vayu (Air), Agni (Fire), Jal (Water) & Bhumi (Earth). Yoga therapy is an integral part of the treatment, which comprises of kriyas, Asana, Pranayama & Relaxation, which bring about our all benefit to body and mind.

In the present day fast moving world scenario, man has little time to take care of his own health. Even for common ailments he indiscriminately resorts to drugs for quick relief least realizing their side effects. Health conscious individuals worldwide are aware about the efficacy of nature cure treatments for permanent cure. Therefore, the main vision is to promote an effective, yet simplistic system of medicine among the masses. The following is a brief list of objectives towards which we will direct ourselves to achieve our goals.
To generate awareness on Naturopathy and Yoga for promoting healthy living using the healing powers of Mother Nature.
To provide cost effective and quality healthcare to the needy poor people of the surrounding villages and others.
To provide healthy lifestyle to all health conscious individuals and improve their quality of life through Naturopathy coupled with Yoga Sadhana, to stay away from disease free unto old age.
To promote health tourism by popularizing Naturopathy and Yoga in a tourism potential state.
To improve livelihoods of local unemployed youths of the region by promoting naturopathy and yoga as a potential tourism activity.
To financially sustain the Centre of Excellence in Environmental Conservation and Livelihoods Promotion by supplementing a Centre of Excellence in Naturopathy and Yoga in its premises.

In a nutshell, the overall goal is to demonstrate a model Naturopathy and Yoga Centre, which can be replicated.
