To attain self- sufficiency by establishing and managing eco-friendly inter-relationship between human and natural resources, through sustainable development programmes.


HIMANI’s vision is to facilitate the formation and strenthening of self reliant communitities based on the sustainable use and management of their available natural resources, skills, capacities and interests.


HIMANI aims at initiating appropriate development programmes in all the thirteen districts of Uttaraakhand, besides developing a Man and Nature Institute.

Access to HIMANI

The HIMANI headquarters, Prakriti Vigyan Kendra and HIMTARA training centre is located at Bhimtal, situated some 20 kms east of Nainital on Nainital-Bhowali-Bhimtal road at a centralized location of Kumaon region in Uttarakhand. It is some 300 kms from state capital Dehradun and national capital New Delhi. Kathgodam is the nearest railhead (25 kms) and Pantnagar is the nearest airport (50 kms).

The branch office of HIMANI is located at village Naula in Almora district on Bhowali-Ranikhet-Bhatronjkhan-Bhikiyasen-Masi road at a distance of 110 kms from Bhimtal.
